2015 NRF RETAIL’S BIG SHOW

iLab: THE NRF’S INNOVATIVE GADGET BOOTH

In partnership with two startups, the NRF hosted an iLab to showcase some of the most innovative retail products finding their way into the marketplace. Here are some of the products that caught our attention:

  • Sketching in 3D. We saw battery-powered pens that enable people to sketch ideas and to design in 3D. The pens sell for around $80 and are already available online. The pens are mostly being used in design programs and for art classes.

  • Sun-exposure bracelet for skincare fanatics. This bracelet tracks your sun exposure over time and sends reminders for applying sunscreens and wearing hats. At times, it sends promotions of sun-protection products.
  • A smart bra that doubles as a personal trainer. This bra not only allows the wearer to track her workout performance, it will also enable her to connect with and get feedback from her personal trainer while exercising. Now you can bring your personal trainer everywhere you go.

  • Achieving sustainability and lighting up the world. We were intrigued by a soccer ball that doubles as a flashlight, powered by the energy generated by activity. Children can play with the ball during the day and use the energy they’ve created to read by flashlight at night.
