Fung Global Retail & Technology’s Deborah Weinswig Named to Vend’s “Top 50 Retail Influencers for 2017”

“Retail Technology’s Leading Lady” among the five most influential professionals to follow this year

NEW YORK (February 2, 2017) – Deborah Weinswig, Managing Director of international think tank Fung Global Retail & Technology, has been ranked No. 4 in New Zealand-based point-of-sale software company Vend’s “Top 50 Retail Influencers for 2017.”

Weinswig was cited with top-ranked Matthew Shay, President and CEO of the National Retail Federation, as among “the industry’s most authoritative analysts, reporters, researchers and consultants,” Vend said in its announcement. She placed 22nd in Vend’s 2016 rankings.

“The people on this list are the experts who retailers turn to for advice, news and best practices. They’re constantly sharing insightful content and commentary about the retail industry and actively helping merchants improve their stores,” Vend said in its announcement.

An award-winning retail analyst and advocate for innovation, creativity and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, Weinswig joined Fung Global Retail & Technology in 2014 to offer her unique viewpoints on the disruptive technology trends and innovations that are reshaping the global retail industry. Since then, she and her team of analysts and researchers have reported on and analyzed the challenges and opportunities facing retail in individual nation profiles, industry analysis and overviews of societal trends that will affect the industry.

“I’m beyond honored that our work has been recognized in this way,” Weinswig said. “Our goal at Fung Global Retail & Technology is to be on the front lines of analyzing, promoting and creating the strategies for tomorrow’s retail.”

Weinswig advises startups working with retailers on digital strategies and other business and logistical issues, and is a member of the U.S. advisory board of the World Retail Congress and an Executive Board Member of the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing at the University of Arizona.

Vend determines its rankings of the Top 50 Retail Influencers through internet research, nominations from the retail community, social influencer tools to identify retail experts and analysis of their writings.

“The 2017 edition puts together established influencers alongside new faces … and features the industry’s most authoritative analysts, reporters, researchers and consultants,” the company adds.
