LinkedIn Names Deborah Weinswig a “Top Voice 2017: Retail”

FGRT’s Managing Director cited as one of the “10 must-know professionals weighing in on retail’s rapidly changing landscape”

NEW YORK (December 14, 2017) – Deborah Weinswig, Managing Director of global think tank FGRT (formerly Fung Global Retail & Technology) and an award-winning retail analyst, has been named a “Top Voice 2017: Retail” by LinkedIn, the global business- and employment-oriented social networking service.

Weinswig was named fifth among the top 10 analysts, academics, executives and observers able to “spark conversations in 2017,” the website said.

“I am honored to be named one of the top voices in retail, especially in such a watershed year like this one,” Weinswig said. “Retail is in the midst of a huge shift that has been propelled by technology and demographics. It has been my privilege to witness this change and communicate its importance to my LinkedIn followers, FGRT clients and observers around the world.”

LinkedIn compiles its annual list by analyzing engagement (the likes, comments and shares across each member’s articles, posts and videos); growth in number of followers tied to publishing activity; and number of times the writer has been featured in editorial channels. Weinswig’s article “Toys R Us files for bankruptcy: Why? And what does it mean?” has been read by almost 60,000 LinkedIn members.

“The Top Voices in retail had a lot to cover this year. They looked at how more and more traditional retailers are closing stores while, at the same time, e-commerce startups are moving into brick-and-mortar. They dove into pivotal issues like blockchain, automation and consumer data. And, of course, they analyzed how Amazon and Walmart are shaking up the industry,” wrote Ashley Peterson, a content coordinator at LinkedIn.

An award-winning global retail analyst and a specialist in retail innovation and technology, Weinswig joined FGRT, which has teams in New York, London and Hong Kong, in 2014 to provide insights into the disruptive technologies reshaping today’s global retail landscape. Previously head of the Global Staples & Consumer Discretionary Team at Citi Research, Weinswig was consistently ranked among the top analysts in her field by multiple industry publications. An advocate for innovation, creativity and the implementation of efficient technologies in the retail sector, Weinswig has helped U.S. startups develop and implement retail technology systems and strategies that have been adopted by top-tier national retailers.
