Fung Global Retail & Technology’s Deborah Weinswig to Moderate “Breakfast With the Disruptors” Panel at PROJECT, August 15

“Retail Technology’s Leading Lady” to lead distinguished panel of retailers and observers at pre-eminent apparel conference

NEW YORK – Fung Global Retail & Technology’s “Breakfast with the Disruptors” series is heading to Las Vegas, as “Retail Technology’s Leading Lady” Deborah Weinswig hosts major retailers and industry observers in a panel discussion, Monday, August 15, 2016, at the PROJECT VIP Room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The event is being held in conjunction with MAGIC, the world’s leading fashion trade show.

The panel, co-sponsored by First Insight, will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and feature a focus on the trends and technologies that are remaking the fashion business. The two firms recently collaborated on a report on men’s apparel that showed that prices overall in the category have declined by27.8 percent over the last three years, Weinswig observes.

“There was one exception: underwear, which saw prices rise 34 percent on average over the same period,” says Weinswig, Managing Director of Fung Global Retail & Technology. “Li & Fung and First Insight have written a follow-on report that takes a closer look at this and other market developments. MAGIC is the perfect venue to discuss the demographic and technology-based trends that are affecting apparel sales – and we’ve assembled the perfect panel to do so.”

Panelists will include Greg Petro, CEO and Founder of First Insight, Nick Graham, CEO of Nick Graham Organization; Nelson Mui, Vice President and Men’s Fashion Director of Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor; Matthew Sebra, Digital Style Director at GQ; and Karthik Sridhar, Founder and CEO of Supply.AI.

This panel is the latest “Disruptors” event to be held in conjunction with PROJECT conferences. Most recently, Fung Global Retail & Technology and First Insight hosted a panel in New York City in July. With a focus on menswear, PROJECT showcases the best brands in the contemporary and denim market to create an expertly merchandised experience for buyers and press. The event serves as an important start to the American men’s market by combining engaging show-floor initiatives with a defined editorial perspective.

“MAGIC is the dominant conference in the industry and thus the perfect forum to have a comprehensive discussion of how the apparel business is changing,” says Petro. “As with our previous events, this panel will offer our audience a full view of how technology is radically altering the marketplace.”

MAGIC is the world’s largest fashion marketplace, comprised of 11 unique communities showcasing the latest in apparel, footwear, accessories, and manufacturing. Every February and August the retail industry convenes in Las Vegas to spot and shop the latest trends in men’s, women’s, juniors’ and children’s apparel, footwear, accessories and resources.

An advocate for innovation, creativity and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, Weinswig joined Fung Global Retail & Technology (formerly FBIC Group) in 2014 to offer her unique viewpoints on the disruptive technology trends and innovations that are reshaping the global retail industry.  Recent reports issued by Fung Global Retail & Technology include: “Amazon Apparel: Is the E-Commerce Giant About to Take The Apparel Industry by Storm?” “The Wearables Report 2016,”“The State of Consumers in the US and China,” and “The Silver Wave: Understanding the Aging Consumer.” Fung Global Retail & Technology’s reports and analyses can be found at www.fbicgroup.com and www.deborahweinswig.com.
